This error is encountered in Windows Vista when attempting to run a command such as ipconfig /release or ipconfig /renew in the Windows command window that requires administrative rights to the operating system and is being blocked by Windows UAC.
To resolve this issue run the Windows Command as the administrator by following the steps below.- Click Start
- In the Search bar type cmd, which should locate the cmd shortcut, right-click this shortcut and click Run as administrator or press the shortcut key Ctrl + Shift + Enter to start as administrator. If done properly you should see a User Account Control window, like that shown below. Click Yes to open the Windows command line as administrator.
